3 Jun 2014

QBI Advisory Board Chairman, Dr Sallyanne Atkinson AO, has been named a Queensland Great by Queensland Premier Campbell Newman.

University of Queensland Provost and Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Max Lu said Dr Atkinson’s impact on the state had been significant.

“Dr Atkinson was elected as Brisbane’s first female Lord Mayor in 1985 and as a community leader, she has made an outstanding contribution to Queensland in government, business, sport, international trade, the arts and the community over 40 years,” Professor Lu said.

QBI Director Professor Perry Bartlett said that Dr Atkinson had been a tremendous supporter of QBI.

"Her support over the years has provided QBI with a wealth of knowledge and expertise," Professor Bartlett said.

Dr Atkinson’s role on the QBI Advisory Board sees her involved in the strategic leadership of the Institute’s financial sustainability, governance, and promotion.
