One of the largest fellowships in Australia, a $1.4 million, philanthropically-funded, QBI Senior Research Fellowship in Learning and Memory has been awarded to an international leader in neuronal circuitry.
Professor Stephen Williams received the award for research that will be conducted over five years.
He will investigate the determinants of learning and memory in neocortical circuits, using advanced electrophysiological and optical imaging approaches.
“Long-term, difficult research projects are essential for break-through research findings,” Professor Williams said.
“Such projects are hard to sustain solely by short-term grants,” he said.
“The QBI Senior Research Fellowship in Learning and Memory provides an important platform for the implementation of such long-term research goals.”
