Rebecca Williams
PhD Student, Queensland Brain Institute (QBI)
"I came to UQ in 2004 to do my psychology degree because of the high quality research reputation of the School of Psychology. During my undergraduate degree, I worked with great people from QBI who helped drive my passion to do cognitive neuroscience research. I decided to go to QBI for my PhD because I knew that researchers from all over the world were coming here to work and study, and that this would be the best place for an internationally recognised research higher degree. The support I got from my mentors made the decision an easy one. My area of research is functional neuroimaging. The Centre for Advanced Imaging has world-class imaging facilities, enabling me to see the human brain in action and in ways never seen before. I am fortunate to have advisors with different areas of expertise, and who are always ready for any question or problem I come across. What I am enjoying most about my PhD experience is working in a lab with people from many different areas of research, allowing me to see my own research from different perspectives."

PhD Student, Queensland Brain Institute (QBI)
"Doing a PhD at the Queensland Brain Institute (QBI) as part of the University of Queensland in the area of vision science has allowed me to work under leading academics in my field such as my advisor, Professor Srinivasan, as well as alongside a number of other students working in the same area. With a number of university offers, I chose to do my PhD at UQ because it offered the best combination of scholarships, project funding and academic support for my candidature."
