Three senior researchers at QBI have together received more than $2.3 million in funding from the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC).
Professor Peter Visscher was awarded a highly prestigious Senior Principal Research Fellowship, providing $886,915 in funding to investigate DNA technologies and statistical genomics.
Work into mental illness by Professor Naomi Wray has received a Principal Research Fellowship with $739,980 for her methods to apply genomics methods in psychiatry to develop prevention strategies, improved diagnosis and more targeted treatments.
Professor Pankaj Sah also received a Principal Research Fellowship with $739,980 for his research, which is seeking to better understand and develop targeted therapeutics for anxiety-related disorders, including post-traumatic stress syndrome and generalised anxiety.
The award of the Fellowships provides the researchers vital funding to continue their work for five years.
